Despite all the warning the father issued to his son…to live a life as a believer in Jesus…the foolish son “seems” to insist on his own road…sinning against God, living a carnal life w/in…acts religious, go to church…but is UNINTERESTED in eating the Word of God daily…and yawns when the Word of God is focus upon…he is a foolish son! He acts like the billions of people who never heard the true Gospel.
The father was of course sorrowful for his son…he remembered the Word of Jesus, happy are they who hunger for righteousness for he shall be filled. In his mind he was doubtful if he was happy… he had hungered for righteousness all his life…and it was only right that his son whom he love should have chosen the way of God…but now this his son had chosen another road…but then he remembered the advise of St. Paul regarding a sinner who had sinned against a father…and it gave him hope…the advised was
“To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.”
The father though he was unhappy with his foolish son…sees rays of hope…he knows God to be a merciful God…whom all things are possible…so he prays and prays that his prodigal son may one day realize…he is able to bear this thing, love never ending…hopeth all things (see 1 Cor. 13) that one day God will make all things beautiful in His time. He now is happy and could empathize with the verse:
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.Matthew 5:6.
